Appreciate this one, Madison! Striking the balance between "commercial palatability" and eccentricity seems like the key to unlocking the 'greatest' success, but then I have to wonder what that word even means... etc., etc., etc., ...... ..
Thank you Lauren! And exactly, it can just go on and on. What’s unfortunately become clearest to me is that our current political/economic system isn’t compatible with art-making. Defining “greatness” with capitalist terms can be limiting!
Love this!! It’s so hard to articulate my hesitancy to fully throw myself into t swifts discography without it coming off as internalized misogyny or a desire to hate popular things. It’s definitely an issue that extends far beyond her
I totally hear you (even as someone who loves Taylor Swift)! Her success has just become so huge, it can feel greater than just a single artist’s, and thus, a bit inhuman. Thank you for reading! <3
You always perfectly articulate things I've been thinking and feeling. And this is something I've been thinking about a lot lately. Love this and your writing!

Aw thank you Summer, glad to know I’m not alone in thinking/feeling this way!
An awesome piece. I very much appreciate your art as both a dancer and a writer.
